Little Prompter  NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE $200 (You may not need this but I have found it VERY helpful for pre-recorded messages.) Make sure your phone will fit. There are other prompters available for larger phones and tablets.

Little Prompter requires a smart device (6.5”x3.5” max) with a teleprompter app (not included) that includes mirroring and the ability to adjust scrolling speed. Recommended are Joe Allen’s Teleprompter Premium (iOS), or PromptSmart Pro with VoiceTrack, which uses voice recognition to advance as you speak. Neither smart device nor teleprompter app are included.

Desktop Tabletop Tripod   https://amzn.to/https://amzn.to/2GBxmEM2wjxkfI   $70  I mount my webcam on a desktop tripod when using the Little Prompter. The Little Prompter will attach to your laptop computer but I prefer it on a tripod. I also had to pick up a bolt to attach the webcam to the tripod.

PromptSmart Pro App for phone $20

Webcam Logitec C920    https://amzn.to/39HcfJO  $100ish JingleRing (you may need to shop around or find an alternative webcam)

FIFINE USB Podcast Microphone for Recording Streaming on PC and Mac  $79.99  https://amzn.to/3mjAV2j

Neewer Video Light & Stand Kit  https://amzn.to/2Xm3en1   $170 JingleRing (there are many lighting options. You just need to have you and your blue screen well lite.)

  1. And I’ve been thinking I’d love to have a listing of what you and Bob Osterhoudt were using! 🙂
Ed, could you add a photo of what YOU see when you’re set up and recording?
Mostly interested in seeing the camera and prompter as they are set up…maybe a front and side view?
    Thanks!

  2. Thanks Ed for sharing this setup. It helps to see what is being done… The ole adage, a picture is worth a 1000 words. Thanks Again.

  3. Ed,
The only thing I do not see mentioned is how you are hearing what is being said. You will see many people on Zoom with visible earbuds so they can listen without causing the echo or feedback loop. But I have never seen earbuds on you. Are they just hidden by all that hair, or what is it you are doing to hear us without sending that back through your broadcast? Thanks,

  4. Hello and good morning,

Quick question. What site would you recommend for green screen background to use on the OBS sys for Virtual Santa Visits.
Keep up the good work. You are very informative with the information you are providing.
    Thanks
    Santa Tom z.

  5. I have a C920S webcam, Logitech webcam software, a blue screen, and OBS. What is the reason for the Logitech gaming software? Does it make up for not having a separate graphics card? If I get a graphics card, I will also have to upgrade my power supply. Does the fact that I’m having problems getting rid of the blue outline around my in OBS mean I need the gaming software or a graphics card? Thanks.

  6. That sounds like more of a lighting issue. I would make a video and post it to the Facebook Group and see if others have solved the problem.

  7. Just curious if anyone has used Facebook Live Producer. It seems to be a more economical way to go for those of us on low budgets. Blame covid..
Any tips or pros and cons would be appreciated.

  8. ED,

You list two sets of lights to light you and the screen, are both sets necessary or are you showing two separate options?

  9. This morning I ordered my own of the same two sets you are using. Got to go with what is already known to work well. Plus, in the photo I like the flexibility and space-saving aspect of the LEDs over the bulkier soft box style of lights.
